Training Workshop: EPA's Toxics Release Inventory

EMAP is co-sponsoring a workshop on EPA's Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) to help small businesses understand how the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) and Pollution Prevention Act (PPA) apply to them. 

 

USDA Funding for Energy Projects in Rural Areas

 Does your small business operate in a rural area? You may be eligible to apply for financial assistance for renewable energy systems and energy efficiency improvement projects.  

The USDA Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) provides grants, guaranteed loans and combined grants and guaranteed loans for development and construction of renewable energy systems and energy efficiency projects for small businesses that operate primarily in rural areas.

West Penn Power Energy Efficiency Rebate Workshops

 If your business operates in the West Penn Power service territory, free workshops are available to help you take advantage of Act 129 Energy Efficiency programs. Many programs also apply to Penn Power, MetEd and Pennelec customers. 

PA Sunshine Solar Program Reopened

DEP expects to have $2.5 to $3.0 million available in 2013 for new residential and small business solar projects in Pennsylvania on a first come - first served basis.

E-Waste Disposal Ban

Beginning January 24, 2013, the Covered Device Recycling Act (CDRA), Act 108 of 2010, bans the disposal of all covered devices regardless of whether they would be considered hazardous waste. Businesses may no longer landfill covered devices (including desktop computers, laptop computers, computer monitors, computer peripherals and televisions).

 

SOPs for DEP's New Permit Review Process

DEP has developed new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for each program to assist wih the program-specific new permit guidelines and review process.

Energy Resource for Small Businesses

The Small Business Majority has developed a guide for small business owners with references to federal, state, utility and non-profit energy efficiency and clean energy programs.

DEP Proposes New Permit Guidelines

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has proposed the new Permit Review Process and Permit Decision Guarantee policy which will replace the former Money Back Guarantee policy.

 

Grants for Philadelphia Dry Cleaners

The Clean Air Council, in cooperation with the City of Philadelphia, is providing limited grants to existing, co-located Perc dry cleaning facilities that will be retrofitted with non-Perc machines.  Applications must be received by October 31, 2012.

Pesticide General Permit Finalized

Pennsylvania developed an NPDES general permit (PAG-15) which is intended to provide coverage to operators who apply biological and chemical pesticides in certain quantities which leave a residue.
