Four funding programs are open now to help support small businesses in transitioning from older diesel vehicles to cleaner fuel vehicles. This funding is available through the Driving PA Forward program in which Pennsylvania received funding as part of the national settlement with Volkswagen for its cheating on U.S. EPA emissions testing.
The four funding programs that are open now for applications include the following:
Level 2 Electric Vehicle Charging Rebate Program, Version 2.0
This program offers reimbursement for a percentage of the total cost to buy and install Level 2 electric vehicle charging equipment at publicly accessible property or at workplaces or multi-unit dwellings that are not publicly accessible.
This program has approximately $1-1.5 million available and will run until rebate vouchers are issued for at least 750 plugs.
DC Fast Charging and Hydrogen Fueling Grant Program, CY2020
This program offers reimbursement for the purchase and installation of direct current (DC) fast charging equipment for electric vehicles or hydrogen fuel cell fueling infrastructure at community charging hubs, in transportation corridors, and at destination locations throughout Pennsylvania.
The application period will be open until February 26, 2021. The maximum grant amount for a project is $500,000.
Onroad Rebate Program, CY2020
Small businesses can be reimbursed for a percentage of the total cost of repowering or replacing older diesel engines/vehicles with model year 2019 or newer diesel or alternative fuel engines/vehicles (which may include electric engines & vehicles).
The application period opened on October 2, 2020 and will run until funds run out. The maximum rebate is $500,000 per applicant.
Truck and Bus Fleet Grant Program, CY2020
This program offers reimbursement for a percentage of the total cost of repowering or replacing older diesel engines/vehicles with model year 2019 or newer diesel or alternative fueled engines/vehicles. This program is for fleets of six or more elgible vehicles/engines.
Eligible vehicles include the following: Class 4-8 local freight trucks, Class 4-8 school buses, shuttle buses, and transit buses that meet age and remaining useful life requirements outlined in the grant program guidelines.
The application deadline for this program is November 13, 2020. The grant amount per applicant is $1,500,000.
