Lee Ann Briggs has over 20 years of experience in the private sector in both consulting and industrial capacities. As a regional Environmental Specialist managing the EMAP program for southwestern Pennsylvania she provides assistance to small business owners, answering questions concerning environmental compliance, energy efficiency and pollution prevention issues related to new business start-up, overall operation and/or potential expansion. Lee Ann serves as a full-time regional environmental resource and also supports statewide activities such as preparing publications, preparing articles for program newsletters, and offering environmental training/workshops.
Prior to coming to the SBDC she functioned as the Manager of Environmental and Regulatory Affairs for nine years with Kop-Coat, Inc., a Pittsburgh based paint and coatings manufacturer. Her responsibilities in this role included ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local environmental regulations for three manufacturing facilities located throughout the United States. Prior to Kop-Coat she worked in the environmental consulting arena with McLaren/Hart Environmental and Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). As an environmental consultant she conducted regulatory compliance audits, due diligence assessments and general project management.
In September 1999 she received certification from the National Registry of Environmental Professionals as a Registered Environmental Manager (REM). This certification is one of the most respected credentials in the global environmental community and is recognized by many U.S. agencies, state governments, ministries of several foreign countries, and the private sector, including Lloyds of London. |
